Getting started

Do I need an account?

No. Alexi-Assistant works without signing up.

How much does Alexi-Assistant cost?

Nothing. Alexi-Assistant is free on iPhone and Android, with no in-app purchases, subscriptions or ads.

Which phones are supported?

iPhone with iOS 15.1 or later, and Android 7.0 or later. The recording indicator on the Lock Screen (Live Activity) needs iOS 16.2 or later.

Which languages does it transcribe?

English (US).

Recording

Is it legal to record a meeting?

It depends on where you and the other people are. Some US states (such as California, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Washington) require everyone to agree. Always tell people you're recording and get their permission. See our Terms of Use, Section 2.

Does Alexi-Assistant keep recording when I lock my phone or switch apps?

Yes. On iPhone you'll see the recording on the Lock Screen; on Android you'll see a notification while recording is on.

What happens if the app crashes during a recording?

Alexi-Assistant saves as it records. When you reopen the app, your recording is recovered.

Does it work without internet?

Partly. Recording and speech-to-text run on your phone. Telling speakers apart needs an internet connection; without one, the app shows "Speaker detection offline" and labels may be wrong.

The transcript has mistakes. Why?

Speech recognition can mishear words, especially with background noise, people talking over each other, or strong accents. Put the phone close to the speakers and away from noise. Always check important points against the recording.

How do I name speakers?

Tap a speaker label in the transcript and type a name. If you've allowed calendar access, Alexi-Assistant suggests names from the meeting invite.

Sharing & backup

How do I share a recording or transcript?

Open Recordings and tap Share Audio, or Share Transcript and choose Text or PDF.

How do I back up my meetings?

Allow iCloud Drive (iPhone) or Google Drive (Android) in Settings → Permissions. Backups are encrypted on your phone before upload — we can't read them.

I got a new phone. How do I get my meetings back?

Install Alexi-Assistant on the new phone, sign in to the same iCloud / Google account, and allow cloud access in Alexi-Assistant. Your meetings are restored from the backup.

I lost my phone and never turned on backup. Can you recover my meetings?

Sorry — no. Your meetings were stored only on that phone. We recommend turning on backup.

Privacy & security

Who can see my meetings?

Your recordings stay on your phone. Transcript text, speaker names and your voice profile are also stored on our servers, linked to your device ID, and some meeting data is processed there to tell speakers apart. The Privacy Policy lists exactly what. Cloud backups go to your own iCloud Drive or Google Drive. On Android, the backup's encryption key is also kept in your Google account, so anyone with access to that account could decrypt it. We never sell your data or use it to train AI.

How do I lock the app?

In Settings → Security, choose when the app locks (Immediately, After 1 min or After 15 min). It then unlocks with Face ID or your fingerprint.

How do I delete my data?

Why does Alexi-Assistant ask for these permissions?
